Kevin Owen/ Nashville

Hey ya’ll For the last couple months, I have put my aside my artistic goals in order to focus on developing the career of my good friend, Kevin Owen. Since then, we’ve made lots of progress: I wrote a song called “Hold You Close” that he sang on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26V6QjGnr_M  and this Saturday, the 18th of August, will be his second show at The Blue Monkey midtown! SO if you are in Memphis, you BETTER be there Aside from that, I’ve been working a day job and saving money to move to Nashville, so I can be with my girlfriend of 3 …

Hard At Work

Hey guys!!! Been gone for awhile, hard at work on a couple new projects. Aside from starting to work on material for my next release, I’ve also been putting a band together for my good friend, Kevin Owen. I met Kevin in college and he’s one of the best singers I’ve ever heard….seriously….so after a couple attempts, I finally found a band to help me back him up (shout out to Chinese Connection Dub Embassy)! PUT IT IN YOUR CALENDAR His first show will be July 13th at the Blue Monkey Midtown. The show starts at 10pm, 3 dollar cover — If you …

Back Home

Hey ya’ll I know it’s been awhile since I posted something—moved back home from L.A. and lost an appendix in the process!—But I’m feeling wayyy better now and I’m ready to get back to the grind (go Grizzlies)!  Speaking of which, my new single “Call It Like I See It” drops tomorrow!!!  This one is a little more rock and roll than my previous work and darker lyrically, as I wrote it after a falling out with a close friend. A lot of my music is about love and romantic relationships, but I wanted to try something different this time …

Meetings and such

Hey Ya’ll! Ever since NAMM, I’ve been focused on writing and releasing new material so, first off, I want to thank everyone who downloaded my song Tin Man…That song took a long time to finish and I’m glad it’s finally out! This week has been pretty busy so far: I finished mixing a new demo with my engineer friend, Scott Coslett, met with ASCAP representative, Jesse Willoughby, and I’m meeting with Washington Street Publishing tomorrow morning!  I’ve got a lot of different projects starting up right now, including putting a band together for my friend Kevin Owen (siiiicckkk singer- seriously, …

L.A. pt. 2

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I’ve been gone for awhile due to the holidays, but now I’m back in L.A. for round 2! Since releasing my EP, I’ve been working on new music and have decided to digitally release a new song each month for the next 3 months: Instead of releasing them in a group, each song will have its own artwork, theme, etc. The first one is called “Tin Man” and is basically my attempt at modern R and B…think Chris Brown, Trey Songs. So be on the lookout for that later this month!!! On top of that, I’m getting …

Halloween

So tonight is Halloween and I’m going to see my friend Alex play at The Cabana Club- should be dope. October was cool, but I’m pretty excited about November because I finally have some work coming up: I’m playing with saxophonist Rick Parma at Roscoe’s on the 10th, with my friend Eli at Irish Times on the 12th, my first solo show at The Roxy on the 19th, and with Coso Franklin at Charlene’s on the 25th! I also got a job working with a guy named Muddy Dutton who puts on an afters-school program called Mr. Muddy’s Music Machine. …

First

Hey guys, Since I last wrote, I’ve just been focused on hustling and trying to find work. Last weekend, I had my first legit audition, which was for a Burt Bacharach-inspired musical….I ended up waiting 2 hours to play for a total of about 10 minutes, but I think it was definitely worth it for the experience. Also, my new friend Coso helped me land a gig at the legendary Roxy on November 19th! LOOK OUT LA!!! P.s.- I accidentally stumbled across this video late last night – very cool! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75eIQJmZ3d0

Birthday

So yesterday was my first birthday away from home and I decided to spend it jamming with my friends Eli Marcus and Alex Kramer. After the three of us played for an hour, a couple of Eli’s friends came over and joined in (notice SICK ewi player in attached vid). Later on, Alex and I went to the Rainbow Room for dinner and it was an all-around great time: excellent food, good drinks, vibe for days and not to mention the wall picture of Ronnie James Dio leering at me….deep, down into my soul. To finish out the night, we …
